At the direction of the Director of Quality, Informatics and Education the Clincial Quality Specialist Infection Preventionist is responsible for the quality monitoring and improvement functions for the Medical Staff and Hospital by supporting clinical performance through medical chart review, collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of clinical data. This position utilizes knowledge of clinical quality measures to drive efforts toward accomplishing goals related to clinical quality improvement. Serves as Quality Department liason to Clinical Informatics and IT. Within the scope of the Infection Preventionist role the employee: ~Provides infection surveillance, prevention and control activities throughout the hospital. ~Identifies, investigates and records data concerning healthcare associated infections and reportable diseases. ~Maintains compliance with CDC Guidelines and CMS Infection Prevention and Control standards. ~Collaborates and coordinates activities with Employee Wellness for employee health requirements.
Bachelors Degree in Nursing, or in progress
Masters in Nursing preferred
Three years of work-related health care experience. Working knowledge of medical terminology. Excellent computer skills, specifically in creating spreadsheets and working with databases, accompanied by experience with graphical reporting tools.
Experience in electronic clinical record abstracting, data collection and analysis, and effective displaying and reporting of data.
License and Certification Requirements:
Current VT RN license
Must attain Certificate in Infection Control within a mutually agreeable time.
License and Certification Desired:
Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) desired.
