  • Overview

    The Wellness Specialist will be a member of our Employee & Community Wellness Team. Primary responsibilities will be to Develop and provide health/nutrition education via health screenings, new employee orientation, and periodic classes/workshops. Educate employees and community regarding the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Promote good health and disease prevention strategies using evidence based practice.

    Responsibilities

    • Maintain community involvement such as participation in health fairs and education to community groups as requested  
    • Participates in an annual review of education quality & outcomes
    • Conduct individual assessment learning needs on all patients
    • Develops and implements wellness initiatives based on high usage medical insurance rates.
    • Develop and provide health/nutrition education via health screenings, new employee orientation, and periodic classes/workshops.
    • Educate employees and community regarding the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
    • Promote good health and disease prevention strategies using evidence based practice.
    • Contributes to strategic plan, review of annual health benefit report, and planning for the wellness team activities.
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of the patient’s educational plan, revise as needed
    • Document all aspects of education
    • Assist Nursing staff with needs assessments and individualized instructions for diabetic inpatients and their families
    • Collaborate with the physicians and the diabetes nutritionist as needed

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in dietetics & nutrition.
    • Registered Dietician, currently credentialed with the commission on Dietetic Registration
    • Current Vermont Dietician certification in good standing with no restrictions or stipulations.
    • Minimum of 3 years as a Registered Dietician
    • Ability to work effectively with adult, adolescent and pediatric patients
    • Computer proficiency with accuracy. Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe and other programs.
    • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
    • Highly organized
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
    • Problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
    • Self motivated and has the desire for continuous personal and professional development.
