Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer and in collaboration with Nursing leadership, Education and Nursing Support Coordinator, Supervisors and Unit Resource Nurses. Assumes responsibility to coordinate and provide education and professional development activities for all nurses and nursing support roles. Serve as education and clinical expert leading the orientation, education and training activities, competency program, department operations and special initiatives. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with all patient care disciplines. Promote professional behaviors and standards while supporting organizational imperatives, evidenced based practice and standards of nursing professional practice. Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and policies governing the provision of healthcare.
In collaboration with the nursing leadership assess educational and professional development needs of nursing staff, providing education programs, just-in-time education and while acting as a clinical practice resource.
Develop and coordinate orientation education and competency programs for all new nursing staff:
Continually assess staff needs and coordinate staff development programs for clinical skills in the area of care.
In collaboration with Nursing Leadership plan and oversee completion of mandatory education/competencies:
Working with nursing committees, quality, and nursing leadership coordinates nursing professional development activities through continuing education,staff development, and academic preparation.
Perform the role of Educator, Facilitator, Change Agent, Consultant, Researcher and Leader as outlined in the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice for Nursing Professional Development. i.e. consult house-wide on educational and professional development issues related to area of expertise

Education Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Education Desired:
Masters Degree in Nursing or Actively pursing post-graduate degree.
Experience Required:
5 years clinical experience, teaching experience

Simulation Education
License and Certification Requirements:
Current Vermont licensure in good standing with no restrictions or stipulations.
Registered Nurse
