IT Systems Engineer

The Systems Engineer designs, implements and manages the processes of end-user and system architectures deployed within the Copley Hospital system. They deliver technical solutions per specified plans, deliverables, costs and timelines, and gather business requirements and translate them into IT solutions. They maintain and support the core systems infrastructure, to include the management, patching, software deployments, endpoint protection, and application access technologies. They are attentive to requirements such as high availability, disaster recoverability, information systems security, data protection and integrity, etc.  Most importantly, they are a team player and willing to assist with the IT Help Desk, and other department responsibilities.

• The Systems Engineer supports the strategic initiatives for IT to be a technology-driven organization.
• Monitor key server and storage performance metrics to ensure production applications are running efficiently and meeting service levels.
• Support the installation, customization, and maintenance of Windows based server environment, Storage Area Networks, VMware vSphere server farm, Email, Storage Archiving Devices, CITRIX, endpoint protection systems, and the Microsoft 365 platform.
• Recommend, specify & implement technology solutions along with participation as a team member in project implementations.
• Provide SME (subject matter expertise) to consult/troubleshoot client/server related matters for enterprise information systems.
• Will lead and work with clients and vendor partners in the pursuit of solution architecting and configuration by leveraging industry best practices and frameworks.
• Required to be a team player.
• The systems engineer will also provide support and mentoring for IS team members.
• Rotational on call, 24X7 duties will be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience within relevant IT field.
• Experience with server and network infrastructure
• Knowledge of small to mid-size business IT systems.
• Detailed oriented with strong documentation skills.
• Effectively communicate in a non-technical way to clients.

Desired experience: 

• Industry certifications with MCSE, VCP, CCNA.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting.
• Experience with Microsoft servers, Office 365, Azure and VMware environments.
• Intermediate installation, administration and maintenance knowledge of Windows Server operating system, including VMware ESXi, networking and LAN/WAN concepts, programming and scripting, software packaging, database systems, web technologies, communication protocols, security standards and technical project management.
• Knowledge of Healthcare environment is desirable.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, VLANs, SNMP, DHCP, DNS, Proxy, Email, SAN, malware protection, AD, Print servers, WSUS, Fortinet, Veeam Backup, Citrix, Terminal Servers, SAN (EMC Unity)
• Experience with high availability and multi-site environments strongly preferred.
