Physical Therapist

Copley Hospital, a rural Vermont critical access hospital is looking to hire a per diem Physical Therapist to cover staff absences and provide assistance during periods of high volume. This individual will assist the organization by providing direct patient care in the evaluation and treatment of inpatient and outpatient physical therapy patients. For candidates with appropriate skills and experience there is also the opportunity to provide coverage in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, pediatrics and wound care. This individual may work at any site supported by Copley Rehabilitation including but not limited to: Copley Hospital outpatient and inpatient clinics, satellite clinics and aquatic therapy.

• As assigned, performs comprehensive patient evaluations for acute and sub-acute inpatients, peri-operative patients, SNF patients, outpatients, and cardiopulmonary rehab.
• Demonstrates excellent communications and organizational skills. Responds promptly and accurately to requests for coverage and is reliable in providing scheduled coverage.  
• Participation in the weekend inpatient rotation.
• Participates in multidisciplinary meetings and transitional communication to coordinate patient care.
• Demonstrates compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and policies governing the provision of health care.
• When applicable, assists in overseeing the work of PTA's and technician staff.
• Responds promptly and appropriately to changes in policies and procedures and takes initiative to make sure she/he is working with up to date information.
• Completes all required documentation including initial evaluation, daily treatment and progress notes, re-evaluations, patient home exercise programs, discharge Reports and communications with providers and payers. Documents in accordance with hospital and or contractual policy and regulatory requirements. Completes documentation in electronic and or paper format as required by the service type and location. Documentation is completed in accordance with policy for timeliness, accuracy, completeness and compliance. Documentation supports the medical necessity of the therapy provided and the billing.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's, Master's or Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
• Valid and unrestricted Vermont state licence to practice Physical Therapy. 
• Desired: 1-2 years combined employment experience as a licensed Physical Therapist in acute care and orthopaedics outpatient. An ideal candidate would also have wound care and or cardiopulmonary rehab experience so that she/he can provide coverage in these areas as well. 
• BLS certification required within 6 months of employment. ACLS certification required within 6 months of any assignment to Cardiopulmonary Rehab.
