Overview

Copley Hospitals Cardiology program provides specialized care to our patients and we are seeking a full time Cardiac Sonographer to join our team. We focus on finding, treating, and preventing heart attacks, heart failure, heart rhythm disturbances, and diseases of the heart and blood vessels.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up examination rooms ensuring that all necessary equipment is ready. Maintains orderliness And cleanliness of work area. Follows infection control practices
  • Obtains all appropriate documentation. Maintains record keeping in Echo Lab.
  • Participates in the echo reading sessions when available.
  • Patient Care- Explains procedures and observes patients to ensure safety and comfort during exam. Provide assistance with such tasks as dressing and changing to seriously ill, injured or disabled patients. Coordinates with other staff to assure appropriate patient care is provided.
  • Supplies-Requests and orders supplies as necessary to keep Material on hand at all times.
  • Equipment: Reports equipment failures to the appropriate supervisor or staff member.
  • Quality Assurance/Control- Assists with quality control/assurance programs. Participates in quality control projects as needed.
  • Computer System- Follows department and hospital protocols for use of the hospital computer system
  • Echocardiography - Performs the echocardiogram according to AHA guidelines.
  • Performs stress test hook-ups, Halter Monitors, EKG's, blood pressures. Assists in the clinical area when the echo schedule permits and/or when POD nurse requests.
  • Explains procedures to patient and carries out procedures under direction of physician.
  • Observes hear activity and monitors test results for abnormal patterns.
  • Uses knowledge of cardiac-function patterns to to evaluate results observed.
  • Records all findings and incorporates theses into patients medical records.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient ranging from newborn to geriatric.
  • Makes preliminary analysis and interpretation of test results for physician's further study and diagnosis.
  • Maintains all equipment in proper working order and reports any malfunction immediately.

 

Qualifications

Education Required:

Associate' s degree in cardiovascular technology.

 

Experience Required:

Three years experience performing cardiovascular tests in a supervised setting.

 

Skills Required:

Registered (or registry eligible) technician in adult echocardiography. BCLS certification

Eligible for registry by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
