Overview

Provides diagnostic and supportive procedures within the realm of the Sleep Lab under the direction of the Respiratory Therapy manager. Performs nocturnal sleep studies in a hospital based sleep lab. Responsible for preparing patients for sleep studies, monitoring patients during data acquisition, attending to the patient and their needs, in addition to disconnecting from patient hook-up equipment. Properly sizes patients for CPAP masks and accurately delivers a desired positive airway pressure in order to treat sleep apnea.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes best thinking and knowledge to the Copley organization, shares unique experiences, education, and insight with appropriate Copley healthcare team members.
  • Maintains and keeps treatment, testing and preparation areas and equipment clean and ready to perform and makes minor maintenance adjustments via notification of Copley’s Respiratory manager.
  • Public relations
  • Demonstrates positive patient-appropriate interpersonal skills with patients, respiratory allied staff, physicians , and other hospital/clinic staff members.
  • Measures and marks appropriate landmarks in accordance with electrode placement for each neural pathway to be tested.
  • Participates as a member of the Copley neurodiagnostic team and performs additional duties as required.
  • Performs artifact free digital data acquisition and is able to troubleshoot equipment, capture, generate and report quality studies to physicians for interpretations.
  • Performs Polysomnography (PSG), Titrations and Split night studies.
  • Prepares scalp and land marking for testing.
  • Provides all documentation and support services for testing, ensuring all ordered neurodiagnostic procedures are completed in an efficient and organized manner.
  • Responsible for checking and verifying patient chart, schedule and orders for outpatients.
  • Stays current with EEG advances.
  • Able to explain testing methods and procedures to the Copley customer.
  • Collects neurodiagnostic data using appropriate applications and obtaining accurate results.

Qualifications

Education Required

  • Associate's Degree

License and Certification Requirements:

  • RPSGT or working toward board registration if not currently certified. RPSGT must be obtained within 18 months of hire.
