Overview

Join our team at Copley Hospital as an Infection Preventionist (IP)! As an IP, you'll play a vital role in keeping our hospital environment safe and free from communicable diseases and infections.

 

Your responsibilities will include implementing and coordinating our infection prevention and control program (IPCP) to ensure a sanitary and comfortable environment for all. You'll conduct surveillance in both inpatient and outpatient settings, detecting and analyzing the distribution of infectious diseases. Collaborating with healthcare team members, you'll develop and implement control measures recommended by regulatory bodies to prevent the transmission of infections.

 

Your role will involve educating caregivers about infection prevention and developing policies and procedures to maintain rigorous standards. You'll also ensure compliance with guidelines from regulatory agencies such as CMS, OSHA, State Epidemiology and Public Health Departments, and the CDC.

Responsibilities

  • Prevent, identify, and control infections and communicable diseases.
  • Develop and maintain infection control policies and procedures.
  • Implement strategies to prevent infections and spread of illness.
  • Provide infection prevention education for staff.
  • Support the Infection Control Committee.
  • Participate in action plans to reduce hospital-acquired infections.
  • Conduct surveillance for healthcare-acquired infections.
  • Offer expert resources on infection prevention topics.
  • Assess staff infection prevention practices and provide feedback.
  • Assist with updating and implementing infection prevention policies.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Collect, analyze, and report infection data.
  • Implement infection prevention strategies for various scenarios.
  • Collaborate with architects for infection prevention in new construction.
  • Assess the environment of care through routine rounds.
  • Take action in emergent situations to control outbreaks.
  • Partner with leadership and medical director on infection prevention goals.
  • Collaborate with local, state, and national agencies on infection prevention.
  • Conduct outbreak investigations.
  • Report communicable diseases to appropriate agencies.
  • Stay updated on regulations and ensure compliance.
  • Provide infection prevention education for departments and new hires.

Qualifications

Required:

 

• Bachelors degree in Nursing or in process

• Three years of related health care experience.

• Current VT RN licensure in good standing with no restrictions or stipulations

 

Desired:

 

• One to three years of related health care experience in infection prevention

• Certified in Infection Control (CIC) desired.
