Overview

As a licensed member of the care team in the Multi-Specialty Clinic at Copley, the RN will work primarily in the Cardiology and General Surgery clinics to support the patients' plan of care. The Clinic RN will provide general nursing oversight to provide support during clinic visits, nurse triage, and referral and care coordination. The RN will work with existing Cardiology and General Surgery clinical staff on an as required basis which may include phone triage, patient rooming, BP checks, EKGs, and other multi-specialty office nursing activities as patient needs arise.

 

The intended shift for this role will be Monday through Friday, no weekends, no holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Work with existing multi-specialty clinical staff as needed on phone triage, patient rooming, BP checks, EKG’s, and support to other multi-specialty office nursing activities, as patient needs arise. 
  • Manages self and resources effectively. Organizes multitask workload, accepts changes in assignment, utilizes supplies appropriately, requests assistance appropriately.
  • Applies critical thinking knowledge, integration skills and considers alternatives in a multitask workload. Collects integrates data from multiple sources, seeks assistance information appropriately.
  • Communicates with patients, team members, and management in an accurate, timely manner. Reports pertinent data, completes forms and charting, protects confidentiality, attends staff meetings or retrieves information from same, reads communications.
  • Develops and maintains human care relationships & integrates the influence of the human experience of health, illness &/or healing. Adapts care for diverse populations, assists colleagues with care delivery, refers all concerns/issues to appropriate resource.
  • Incorporates teaching in delivery of care and demonstrates competence in health promotion & disease prevention. Provides information to patient family appropriately, assesses for barriers to learning, uses colleagues as a learning resource.
  • Education, attendance, punctuality, meetings: Participates in continuing education programs & mandatory education to maintain competence and gain additional skills & documents attendance. Completes annual review and or training i.e. Elsevier topics, mandatory education, BLS renewal, etc. Attendance & punctuality expectations met. Attends unit staff mtgs or retrieves info from the same.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education Required:

  • Associate Degree (or certification equivalent)

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of one year RN experience, ACLS certified and some cardiac telemetry preferred

License and Certification Required:

  • Current Vermont licensure and BLS.

Skills Required:

  • Basic knowledge of cardiac rhythm, basic EKG interpretation
  • Cardiopulmonary clinical assessment skills
  • General surgery assessment skills
  • Basic knowledge of cardiac medications, tests, and treatments
