Overview

Cardiology is part of our Multi-Specialty group practice that covers: Non-invasive Cardiology Specialists who focus on preventing, diagnosing and managing all types of heart disease, General Surgeons who focus on a variety of operative and interventions specializing in minimally invasive surgery, colorectal surgery, thyroid surgery, breast surgery, and other general surgical problems and endoscopy, as well as a Neurologist who diagnoses, treats and manages disorders of the brain and nervous system.

 

The Medical Assistant responsible for Stress Testing produces recordings of electromotive variations in action of heart muscle, using electrocardiograph, while patient walks on treadmill or is administered stress-induced medication, under direction of physician, to provide data for diagnosis of heart ailments. May conduct electrocardiograph test of resting patient.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare exam room ensuring all necessary equipment is ready. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work area. Follows infection control practices.
  • Uses knowledge of cardiac-function patterns to evaluate results observed.
  • Prepare patient for 12-lead EKG per protocol and chart for supervising physician.
  • Record, enter, and monitor BP's, O2 sats and any symptoms.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Post-secondary education, preferred

Experience:

  • Three years’ experience performing stress testing in a supervised setting, preferred

Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and work in a team and independently when required.
  • EKG recognition and lead placement, preferred.
