Overview

Copley Hospital is looking for a Scheduler/Admin Assistant for the diagnostic imaging department. Registers incoming patients. Schedules/coordinates patients for all diagnostic imaging services. Must have an understanding of all diagnostic imaging modalities to coordinate patient examinations. Assures proper information is available. Has an understanding of all insurance requirements for pre-certifications, and medical necessity. Has an understanding of medical terminology. Communicates description of procedure and examination preparation to patients and staff. Communicates between Physicians and Radiologist. Assures proper performance of office procedures. Prepares reports and distributes as needed. Will spend several hours a day on the phone with patients, answering questions and scheduling appointments.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and communicates with patients or other individuals in a professional manner.
  • Schedules patients in a timely manner. Gives patients the appropriate preparation instructions. Answers questions as needed. Understand all radiology modalities to coordinate patient examinations.
  • Uses computer with understanding of CPSI, Word and other computer programs.
  • Understands how to use the Enterprise Wide Scheduling System.
  • Assures diagnostic imaging orders are complete for medical necessity and prior approvals.
  • Understands insurance requirements for pre-certification, and medical necessity.
  • Retrieves and distributes reports to appropriate departments and mails to outside physician and facilities.
  • Answers department telephone using professional telephone skills. Communicates between physicians, Radiologist, and technologist.
  • Assures proper documentation on all diagnostic imaging orders.
  • Prepares release forms and prepares films as requested using HIPAA regulations. Maintains release system
  • Prepares daily physician log; provides copies of reports as requested; keeps track and records who reads all films; refers calls for billing information.
  • Keeps reception and counters neat, clean and free of clutter and maintain appropriate supplies.

Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma and Medical Office Experience

 

Experience:

Understand Medical Terminology and have experience working in a medical setting

Six to twelve months of related experience.

 

Skills:

Excellent communication, computer, and organizational skills. Knowledge of medical terminology.

Excellent customer service skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to multi-task.
