Overview

Copley Hospital is looking for a Unit Coordinator to join our PeriOperative Unit team! This person will manage phones/messages, coordinate the daily surgery schedule, be responsible for weekly and monthly unit-based administrative tasks, assist with patient care, and be in compliant with all applicable State and Federal laws, regulations, and policies governing the provision of health care.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with PeriOp leadership team to maintain smooth flow of daily operations of the OR
  • Manage next day's surgical schedule, collaborating with charge RN to assure proper case order, arrival times and preference cards are in place.
  • Handle the scheduling of same day and next day add-ons, including PAT scheduling and chart preparation. Collaborates with OR charge to communicate add-ons with other perioperative departments.
  • Answer phones in O.R., Recovery Room, etc – taking and relaying messages between all departments.
  • Check to ensure all charts for next day surgeries are available to PreOp staff.
  • Run specimens to the Lab when needed.
  • Order office supplies and forms and maintain an organized system for reorder and storage.
  • Performs LNA duties as assigned in OR, PreOp, and PACU. Primarily assisting with room or bay turnover, transporting patients, picking OR cases.  This component of the position is the focus of the hours of shift after 2:30, but could be more or less of a day's responsibilities depending on case volume and staffing.

Qualifications

Education Required:

High School Education

 

Education Desired:

Associates Degree

 

Experience Required:

2 years experience working in a medical environment, clinical environment preferred. Strong working knowledge of medical terminology.

 

Experience Desired:

Perioperative experience preferred.

 

License and Certification Required:

Current Vermont LNA license in good standing required (or ability to obtain LNA status as part of Orientation to the position).
