Overview

Copley Hospital, located in Morrisville/Stowe VT, is in search of a Unit Coordinator to join our team! The Unit Coordinator will provide clerical support to the patient care area to ensure effective and efficient services are delivered. Compliance with all applicable State and Federal laws, regulations, and policies governing the provision of health care.

 

This is a Part-Time position (FT available), which would include one 12-hour day shift and one 12-hour night shift weekly.

Responsibilities

  • Fill out and submit correct patient forms to the appropriate ancillary department.
  • Handle all telephone calls in a customer friendly manner.
  • Identify forms that belong in the patient chart. Maintain the proper order and quantity of forms in the patient chart.Thin the chart correctly. Turn the chart correctly and in a timely manner when discharged.
  • Interact with all visitors, coworkers and other departments in a customer friendly manner.
  • Maintain all information in the identified computer System.
  • Maintain identified patient record while the patient is admitted to the patient care area.
  • Perform all tasks associated with maintaining patient census.
  • Place calls to schedule treatments and procedure as ordered. Sign off orders after transcribing all orders.
  • Print census report as needed. Enter transfers and discharges in computer accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Provide assistance to individuals who may need directions.Assist individuals in finding resources on the patient care area.
  • Transcribe physician orders as indicated.
  • Responsible for scheduling for Med/Surg and SCU (RN's, LNA's, & UC's). Gathers requests off. Prepares draft for manager's approval and posts by due date. Prepares final schedule for manager's approval and posts by due date. Works with per diem staff for efficient scheduling. Has working knowledge of nursing/Hospital union contract
  • Meets regularly with Director of units for staffing updates FMLAs, FTE changes, new hires or terminations that would affect scheduling.
  • Works proactively with Director to identify staffing problems and assist in finding appropriate solutions.
  • Gathers and compile statistical data necessary for direct caregiver FTE report and submits to state.
  • Creates new forms as needed by director and staff.
  • Perform audits and provide feedback to director.
  • Assists in new hire orientation to SCU.
  • Answer the telephone using the standard, greeting, (department area, name, title, How may I help you?). Answer the telephone ASAP. Identify the need of the caller. Take complete and accurate messages and ensure the message is delivered to the appropriate person. Transfer calls to the appropriate area.Ensure someone is available to answer the telephone when the Unit Secretary needs to be away.
  • Identify forms and supply items needed in the patient care area. Set up an inventory list of supplies needed. Verify the amount of supplies available for use.Prepare requisitions for replacement supplies. Verify supplies received are the supplies ordered. Restock the supply areas when received.
  • Acknowledge individuals that enter the work area. Identify ways to assist the individual.
  • Alert appropriate staff of patient arrivals. Update patient board to keep it current, reflecting arrivals, discharges or transfers within the unit or to another unit. Enter current and correct activity in the census book.
  • Create a new chart at the appropriate time. Transcribe written physician orders accurately in a timely manner.
  • Establish and maintain floor inventory of identified forms and supplies.
  • Display results successfully.Print selected date/list correctly. Order floor stick items correctly.
  • Enter and update patient information accurately and in a timely manner. Transfer and/or discharge patients correctly. Select patients correctly.Enter orders/charges correctly. Cancel orders and credits charges correctly.

Qualifications

  • Post high school education preferred.
  • Experience with scheduling and unit coordinator job may substitute for educational requirements.
  • Completion of a medical terminology course or willing to train. computer data entry experience or willing to train.
