Overview

Copley Hospital, located in Morrisville/Stowe VT, is in search of a Diagnostic Ultrasound Professional to provide diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. Responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography. Responsible for daily operations of the sonographic laboratory, equipment maintenance, the report of equipment failures, and QA. Maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, diseases, and new procedures as they evolve.

 

This is a Full-Time position (PT available).

Responsibilities

  • Sets up examination rooms ensuring that all necessary equipment is ready. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work area. 
  • Explains procedures and observes patients to ensure safety and comfort during exam. Provides assistance as needed with such tasks as dressing and changing to seriously ill, injured or disabled patients. Coordinates with other staff to assure appropriate patient care is provided.
  • Meets the psycho-social needs of the patients being served. Demonstrates competency in the delivery of patient care in a manner that is appropriate to the patient's age, physical ability and intellectual development. Demonstrates proficiency in adapting care to meet the needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations.
  • Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations. Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic information and images.
  • Clerical duties- Assists with record keeping, answers phones, schedules appointments, and prepares changes.  Requests and orders supplies as necessary
  • Operates portable equipment in OR and bedside as necessary
  • Records patient information in PACS sytem and the hospital computer system appropriately
  • Practices appropriate infection control standards, includeing Sterile Techniques
  • Analyses sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to physician. Prepares preliminary reports and contacts referring physician when required, according to established procedures.

 

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or a two year allied health degree and successful completion of on the job training in ultrasound practices.  Must be eligible for registry by the American registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
  • Registry eligible by the ARDMS
  • Active certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in the specialties as appropriate.
