Overview

Copley Hospital, located in Morrisville/Stowe VT, is in search of an Athletic Trainer to work directly with Surgeons, Clinic Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Nurse Practitioners at Mansfield Orthopaedics in our Waterbury location (with some staffing at the Morrisville location as needed). This AT coordinates the flow of office patients to providers and provides general support services to physicians and mid-level providers. Trouble shoots patient problems and collaborates with practices staff and other Copley managers or staff as needed. Assists with patient education regarding peri-operative/post-operative issues. Becomes familiar with all clinic appropriate appliances. Keeps a strong focus on overall patient satisfaction.

 

This is a Full-Time position (PT available).

Responsibilities

  • As a physician extender, perform both clinical and administrative tasks under the guidance of the attending physician. 
  • Has superior knowledge of EMR in order to schedule appointments as needed. Has the ability to forward think and review provider schedules and schedule patients where holes exist in order to maximize patient access.
  • Has mastered all essential functions of the Medical Assistant Tier II job description and posses more in-depth knowledge of the sub-speciality for the surgeons of the practice.
  • Assisting with Patient Navigation in FORCE therapeutics during a patients episode of surgical care.
  • Trouble shoots patient concerns and collaborates with practice staff and other Copley Managers or staff as needed. 
  • Assists with patient education regarding preoperative and post-operative issues
  • Applies experience with DME products and their application and casting specific to the surgeons.
  • Works collaboratively with Medical Assistants, RNs and Providers in all procedures appropriate for relative clinic. In addition, provide associated documentation and or education materials to patient when requested.
  • Communicates in a clear and effective manner with all team members and has the ability to know who to communicate with at the appropriate time to assist in the coordination of patient needs.
  • Works with other staff to ensure adequate stock of appropriate supplies. Follows hospital policy in dealing with outside vendors and salespeople regarding new product consideration and in-services.
  • May perform appropriate and safe clinical patient treatment including all necessary modalities and therapeutic activities as indicated by patient status. 

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science, Athletic Training program accredited by CAAHEP or its successor organization.

Experience Desired:

  • Experience in a multi-disciplinary Rehabilitation setting.
  • Experience in orthopedic clinic setting, including managing schedules and working directly with Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Physicians.

License and Certification Requirements:

  • Vermont License as an Athletic Trainer. N.A.T.A. National Certification. Certification with BOC.

Skill Requirements:

  • Ability to practice independently and as part of the Rehabilitation team, in both the clinic and traditional settings, performing evaluations, treatments, prevention and conditioning tasks.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in the health care and education environments for athletes of all ages, individually and in teams.
  • Develops, coordinates and implements prevention and conditioning programs in the community in accordance with organizational guidelines.
  • Ability to multi task in the clinic setting to assist in coordination of clinic services. Computer based clinical documentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and follow regulatory and compliance standards for all patient care services, including documentation and billing.
